Heavy security has been deployed outside the Election Commission of India headquarters in New Delhi as INDIA bloc MPs prepare to march from Parliament towards the ECI office over the ongoing controversy surrounding electoral rolls, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and allegations of irregularities in the voter-registration process.The Opposition is demanding action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and has repeatedly raised what it calls the “vote chori” issue. The march is part of the INDIA bloc’s wider “Save Democracy” campaign and comes amid an escalating political confrontation over SIR and changes related to Form 6.Security has been significantly tightened across central Delhi, with barricades placed around Parliament, Vijay Chowk and the ECI headquarters. RAF personnel have also been deployed, while traffic restrictions are in force in several areas. Reports put the overall deployment of Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces at around 4,000 personnel.The Opposition says the electoral-roll process requires greater transparency and has demanded the resignation or removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The Election Commission and BJP have rejected allegations of wrongdoing.
