Mumbai Police has registered a case against leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and more than 400 supporters over a protest held at Shivaji Park on October 2, despite permission being denied for the gathering. Police have cited alleged unlawful assembly and disobedience of official orders under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act. The protest was organised to demand action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke had criticised the denial of permission and announced a civil disobedience campaign.
