Tamil Nadu’s latest move involving the Right to Information Act has triggered a fresh debate over transparency and access to government information. According to a report published on September 27, 2026, the Tamil Nadu government has issued an order exempting the Public (Law & Order) Department from the ambit of the RTI Act, invoking Section 24(4) of the legislation.
